Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about joining Signature Travel Collective.

What is a host agency and why do I need one?  A host agency is a company that supports independent travel agents by providing access to suppliers, booking systems, training, and mentorship. Partnering with one allows you to start selling travel without building all the infrastructure yourself.

How do I get started as a travel agent with a host agency?  You typically sign an agreement, pay startup, monthly and/or annual fees, complete any required training, and submit basic documents like your ID and business license (if required). Some agencies may also ask for Errors & Omissions insurance.

Do I need prior travel industry experience?  No prior experience is required. Signature Travel Collective provides training, guidance, and tools to help new agents learn how to book travel, market themselves, and grow their business.

Are there any upfront or ongoing costs?  Yes, the required fees cover access to our integrated business platform, which includes professional tools, education resources, operational support, and secure commission and payment management. You’re investing in a complete infrastructure that allows you to launch and grow a travel business efficiently.  Signature Travel Collective provides a streamlined, all-in-one system designed to reduce startup costs, simplify operations, and support long-term scalability.

Can I work part-time or full-time?  Many agents start part-time while building their business. You can scale your travel business to fit your schedule and goals.

How do travel agents earn income?  Travel agents primarily earn income through commissions paid by travel suppliers for completed bookings. Some agents may also choose to charge service fees on select or all bookings. Signature Travel Collective tracks commissions and issues payments via direct deposit to your designated bank account.  Agents receive an annual 1099 reflecting their earnings.

How much does an average travel agent earn in a year?  Earnings vary based on time commitment and client volume. Agents working full time may earn $100,000+ annually, while part-time or casual advisors—such as those booking travel primarily for friends and family—typically earn between $10,000 and $50,000 per year. Signature Travel Collective does not impose sales quotas.  Income is driven by your client base, their travel frequency and preferences, and the amount of time you choose to invest in the business.

How long does it take to start booking clients?  It depends on your training, networking, and marketing efforts, but many agents start booking within a few weeks to a few months after onboarding.

How do I find clients as a new travel agent?  Start with your personal networks, social media, and community connections.  Host agencies often provide marketing tools, websites, and email templates to help attract clients.
